Hi, I’m Alana Amani.
For the past 28 years, I’ve been a teacher, but baking has always been one of my greatest passions. It’s my therapy, my creative outlet, and one of the ways I show love to the people around me. Nothing brings me more joy than feeding others and seeing them enjoy something I made from scratch.
Curly’s Café actually began about four years ago, not as a business, but as a special place in our home. I found a small cart and transformed part of our deck into a cozy outdoor dining space for two. We affectionately called it “Curly’s Café,” and it became a place where my late husband, Ramin, and I could enjoy good food, conversation, and time together.
As my love for baking continued to grow, I decided to turn that passion into a business. The name was an easy choice—Curly’s Café already held so many wonderful memories. Today, I offer homemade, from-scratch baked goods including cookies, bars, cakes, cupcakes, challah, and other sweet treats.
The logo is especially meaningful to me because it incorporates artwork created by my late husband, Ramin, that he had a tattoo of on his arm. He was not only my biggest supporter, who loved creating drawings inspired by the people he loved. One of those drawings—a playful illustration of me and my signature curly hair—became the inspiration for the Curly’s Café logo. Seeing his artwork live on through my business feels like carrying a piece of him with me every day.
